Our top 5 flip up helmets right now

By the end of the video below, you’ll know which of our top 5 flip up helmets suits you best.

Schuberth C5

After some ups and downs in recent years, Schuberth is back on track with the C5. This touring and sport oriented helmet stands out thanks to its large visor and original Pinlock lens, making it well suited for more dynamic riding. The helmet meets the latest ECE 22.06 standard and is P/J homologated.

The outer shell is reinforced with a carbon layer, making it stronger and lighter, with a weight of around 1640 grams in the smallest size. Notably, the helmet uses only two shell sizes, which is surprising at this price level.

The integrated sun visor is large and easy to operate. A dual air intake directs airflow to the top and the chin area, depending on the setting. The fit is comparable to the C3, and the liner feels soft and comfortable.

The helmet is prepared for the SC2 communication system, based on the SENA 50S with MESH technology. The Schuberth C5 delivers a quiet, safe and comfortable ride across all types of journeys.

Nolan N100-6

A newcomer in this list is the Nolan N100-6. This helmet offers a strong mix of style, comfort and performance. It is made from durable LexanTM polycarbonate for stability and protection at higher speeds.

The N100-6 stands out due to its attention to detail. With two outer shell sizes, it offers a more precise fit for different head shapes. Wind tunnel testing confirms its stability, even at higher speeds, giving you confidence on every ride.

AGV Tourmodular

The AGV Tourmodular is built with touring in mind. That doesn’t mean it won’t work on other types of bikes, but it performs best on touring motorcycles or naked bikes. If you ride a sport bike and prefer a flip up helmet, you may want to look at AGV’s Sport Modular or a full face alternative.

The AGV Tourmodular was one of the first flip up helmets to meet the ECE 22.06 standard, which means it has been tested under stricter requirements. This includes rotational impact testing and testing with accessories such as sun visors and integrated communication systems.

The outer shell is available in three sizes and is made from carbon fibre, aramid and fiberglass. The multi density EPS liner comes in four sizes. The shell is designed to feel nearly weightless at around 130 km/h under the right conditions, and the helmet has been wind tunnel tested.

The AGV Tourmodular is prepared for the AGV INSYDE Bluetooth communication system, based on Cardo’s DMC MESH technology, and is easy to install and use.

Shoei Neotec 3

We’re not naming a single winner, but if we did, the Shoei Neotec 3 would be a strong contender. Released in 2023 as the successor to the Neotec 2, it still holds its place among the best.

The handcrafted outer shell is made from Shoei’s Advanced Integrated Matrix, combining lightweight construction with strong impact resistance. The shell is available in three sizes, reducing the need for excess padding across different sizes. The dual density EPS liner helps absorb impact energy.

The Neotec 3 is known for its excellent fit. If needed, it can be further customised using the Shoei Personal Fitting System.

The inner liner is fully removable, washable and 3D shaped, with multiple size options for cheek pads and centre pads. This allows fine tuning for a better fit.

This helmet weighs around 1700 grams in the smallest shell size and features a stainless steel quick release buckle. It also includes an internal sun visor and a Pinlock Max Vision anti fog lens. The helmet is prepared for the Shoei SRL-3 communication system by SENA, and different visor options are available.

The Neotec 3 is primarily a touring helmet, but in practice it suits a wide range of riders. It works just as well for long distance travel as it does for daily commuting or city riding.

LS2 Advant X

The LS2 Advant X is the most affordable option in this list, while still offering strong functionality.

With the LS2 FF901 Advant X, you stay both protected and connected. Thanks to the integrated communication system based on the Cardo Freecom 4X, you can easily stay in touch with other riders, follow navigation or listen to music.

A standout feature of the Advant X Carbon is its rotating chin bar, which can be fully flipped to the back. This improves ventilation during stops and adds versatility. Its wind tunnel tested design keeps it stable at higher speeds.

While it may not be as refined as models like the Shoei Neotec 3 or Schuberth C5, it offers solid value. With a comfortable fit, strong construction and ECE 22.06 certification, it’s a reliable choice for touring riders.
