Almost everywhere in Europa wearing a scooter helmet is mandatory. According to the law, the helmet must meet specific standards and be equipped with a certification mark, such as the ECE mark. This certification checks whether the helmet offers sufficient protection to comply with European road use standards. Wearing an approved scooter helmet is not only legally required but also contributes to your safety. It protects your head from serious injury and increases your chances of survival in an accident. A scooter helmet has a lifespan of about 5 years, depending on use and conditions. Even without visible damage, protection may decrease over time due to material aging. After a fall or accident, you should replace the helmet immediately, even if there is no visible damage.

Maintain a helmet by cleaning it regularly with a soft cloth and lukewarm water or by using special maintenance products. Avoid aggressive cleaning products as they may damage the visor or outer shell. Many helmets have a removable and washable liner. Additionally, regularly check if the fasteners and ventilation openings work properly.

To secure your helmet to your scooter, you can use a chain lock or helmet bag with a combination lock. This is especially handy if your helmet doesn't fit in your buddy seat or if you want to store a passenger's helmet. You can also mount a top case behind the seat on your scooter. It may not be the most attractive method, but it works.

A too small helmet can create pressure points inside the helmet. It can also obstruct your view on the scooter. Conversely, a too large helmet can be very dangerous in an accident or collision because your head has room to move inside the helmet, causing the impact to be more severe.
