Flip Up Helmets

A flip up helmet combines an open face helmet and a full face helmet in one. The chin bar can be flipped up using a hinge system, allowing you to switch from a closed helmet to an open helmet with a single movement.

A modular helmet is a type of flip up helmet where the chin bar can be fully detached and stored separately in your pocket or bag.

Dual homologation, also known as P/J certification, means that a flip up helmet is approved for use both as an open face helmet and as a full face helmet. Without this approval, you are not allowed to ride with the chin bar in the open position. Not every flip up helmet has this certification.

A flip up helmet is suitable for almost every type of ride. In city traffic or warm weather, you can flip up the chin bar. On the motorway, it is safer and more comfortable to ride with the helmet closed. This flexibility makes flip up helmets very popular among a wide range of riders.

From a safety perspective, flip up helmets also offer an advantage, as it is easier for medical personnel to access the face or remove the helmet after an accident.

Flip up helmets are generally heavier and slightly less quiet than full face helmets. When the chin bar is flipped up, it can also create additional wind resistance at higher speeds.

Flip up helmets are well suited for installing Bluetooth communication systems. Many models are prepared for this, and some even offer plug and play integration.
