The heart of the Tech-Air® 3 system is Alpinestars’ advanced crash detection algorithm, developed and refined with millions of kilometers of riding data and thousands of crash tests. This enables the system to accurately determine when to activate the airbag in the event of a collision or other dangerous situations such as a lowside or highside crash. Once a crash is detected, the airbag inflates within just 50 milliseconds, ensuring the rider is optimally protected before the motorcycle makes contact with the impact object.
The Tech-Air® 3 vest is built with a water-resistant outer shell and a waterproof ECU and electronics, making the system durable against various weather conditions. Its compact and lightweight design allows the vest to be easily worn under any motorcycle jacket, including the Alpinestars Tech-Air® Ready jacket, or under any leather or textile jacket. This ensures that riders can move freely without sacrificing their protection.
Ease of use is a key feature of the Tech-Air® 3 system. The vest automatically activates via the magnetic zipper closure, allowing you to be quickly and easily protected as soon as you zip up your jacket. A diagonally placed zipper provides full chest coverage while concealing the internal airbag, and the magnetic closure ensures a secure and user-friendly seal. An LED display on the chest indicates the operational status of the airbag and warns you when the battery is low, supported by a haptic alert that vibrates upon activation and low battery status.
The Tech-Air® 3 system is equipped with six integrated sensors, including three accelerometers and three gyroscopes, ensuring the best crash monitoring performance in a variety of dynamic riding conditions, even when stationary.
