Rukka motorcycle clothing since 1950
Rukka is a company that was founded in Scandinavia and it is still located there. Roger Störling started the family business back in 1950 with the unpronounceable name ‘AB Sportbklädnad Urheiluyaatetus Oy’ and they aimed at clothing made for running sports. This is where the foundation was laid for the motorcycle clothing and protection they produce today. The first products were developed in the kitchen of an old farm in Kokkola, off the west coast of Finland. In 1953 the company expanded by aiming at waterproof rain gear. Another 3 years later the company relocated to a new building, where they could start production on an industrial scale. The company name became ‘Rukka Oy’ after Roger Störling’s nickname. Now everybody outside of Scandinavia can finally pronounce the company name.
During the product development Rukka works closely with diverse research & development institutes, to create the perfect product. Thanks to an intensive partnership with suppliers like Gore, D3O and DuPont, new materials continue to be developed and tested for use in their motorcycle clothing and protection. Rukka spares no expenses, they only bring out the best products on the market. Every single part is tested multiple times before it ends up on the shelves. The fabricating process is continuously monitored. In the last stage of the development, professional testers and experienced users test the prototypes. This happens in both hot and cold weather, in the rain and in the snow. When all tests have been perfectly withstood, the product is approved for large scale production, so that it ends up on our shelves and around your body.
