Which certification do your bicycle helmets comply with?

All 'normal' bicycle helmets in our webshop are certified according to the European safety standard, namely the EN-1078 certificate. Some helmets in our range are even certified higher according to NTA 8776: these helmets are specially made for e-bikes and Speed Pedelecs.

What is an MTB helmet?

An MTB helmet is specially designed for mountain biking. An MTB helmet has a special visor at the front, known as a “peak”. This peak ensures that the sun doesn’t shine into your eyes while riding and that no branches come into your face. Generally, you can also remove the visor, and then it’s basically a normal bicycle helmet. MTB helmets also have sufficient ventilation to keep you cool during an intense off-road ride.

What are MIPS bicycle helmets?

Standard bicycle helmets comply with the EN-1078 certification requirements, a MIPS bicycle helmet generally goes a bit further. MIPS stands for Multi-Directional Impact Protection System. This technique involves placing an extra (movable) layer on the inside of the helmet shell. The movable MIPS layer allows the helmet to move and rotate somewhat to reduce or even prevent the risk of (severe) brain injury. The MIPS system itself weighs almost nothing, adding just around 30 grams to the weight.
