The Shoei J-O (jay-o, or if you prefer, simply Jo!) is the helmet from the Japanese premium brand. Now, we actually feel that ‘helmet’ doesn’t quite describe this helmet properly. And you’ll understand why once you hold this J-O: it’s so much more than just a helmet in every little detail. But more importantly, once you put it on, you immediately feel like you’re wearing a real helmet, almost resembling a full-face helmet.

Thanks to the relatively long helmet shell, the J-O encloses your face well. What stands out about this shell is the ‘ducktail’ at the back. It enhances the appearance of the helmet, yet is, as expected from Shoei, primarily functional concerning the aerodynamics of this helmet.

For the rider’s further comfort (= preventive safety), Shoei has incorporated some clever features in this helmet that are unique for a helmet of this type. The molded visor is aerodynamically shaped. This allows the wind to flow better around the helmet, and the visor prevents the wind from rolling into your eyes from below. Furthermore, the visor is adjustable in position without visual distortion.

A final special feature: the edges of the lining are finished with leather. Around the visor, however, Nubuck leather is used. This material doesn’t reflect and prevents sunlight from bouncing off the inside of the visor. Imagine riding down a beautiful road, with a row of trees on the left with sunlight shining through. That little line of Nubuck really makes all the difference!
